HARRY & MEGHAN - THE NEXT CHAPTER
The Composite (Relationship) Chart & the King's Coronation
By Pamela Rowe LPMAFA, FPMFAA
When I wrote my article on this website entitled ‘Harry & Meghan – A Love Story' on May 23, 2018 many people were caught up by this romance of the decade. With the help of the Composite Chart we can now review the direction this couple have taken in their shared life path. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle natal charts (FIG. 1)
The Composite Chart consists of combining the two natal charts to produce a chart of the relationship itself. It is calculated for the location where the couple live or where the relationship takes place. In describing the relationship it can help the couple understand the lessons to be learnt through their relationship.
Better results can be expected if the birth times, dates and places are known for each party. In the case of the Royal family birth times are accurately documented.
The closest midpoint position for each planet in the chart is calculated. The midpoint for the two natal Midheavens, from which we calculate the Ascendant and house cusps for the location of the relationship will complete the Composite Chart.
The Composite chart is a very interesting exercise, especially when we consider that it reacts to transits for specific shared events.
For example the Sun Midpoint -- Prince Harry’s natal Sun position is 22deg. 56min. Virgo. Meghan’s natal Sun position is 11deg. 59min. Leo. The closest midpoint between the two is 2deg.28min Virgo, which is their Composite Sun.
Harry & Meghan Composite Chart London, England
Below (FIG.2) is the Harry/Meghan Composite chart for London England. With Composite Sun at 2deg.28min. Virgo in the 5th house of lovers and children, Composite Mars conjunct Venus also in the 5th house, shows the love and passion between the couple and for their children.
The 5th house is the natural house of Leo and can also describe leadership positions and potential for the spotlight.
Jupiter and Pluto conjunct Vertex and Saturn in the 6th house of health and service to others describes the success of their endeavours to help others through their charities.
When based in London, their marriage location, the chart has 1deg. 46min Gemini on the Ascendant, conjunct Chiron and Hades and opposition Uranus. Both form a T square to the Sun at 2deg. 28min Virgo in 5th house.
Gemini is a great sign for communication and rules the nervous system and lungs. But the planetary pattern across the Ascendant/Descendant is one of change and sudden disruption, which can also be described as sudden nervous stress plus pain and healing through change.
At the time of the wedding I considered that this may have described the changes, healing and love the couple have put into their charities to assist so many less fortunate people than themselves.
Patterns in any horoscope, especially difficult patterns, need to be addressed and used positively if we are to benefit. For each pattern in the composite chart (and also in our natal charts) we need to abide by this rule. If we do not attempt the positive expression we may attract the more negative interpretation of the pattern into our lives. A good book on astrology will provide both positive and negative expressions of astrological patterns.
Harry & Meghan Composite Chart California, USA
When Harry and Meghan relocated to California USA (FIG. 3) the Composite planetary positions and Midheaven remain the same but the Ascendant or rising sign moves from Gemini to Taurus, plus there is some slight variations in the house cusps.
The Taurus Ascendant for the US location is a more stable Earth sign and the unsettling planetary Chiron/Hades/Uranus/Sun pattern, although still featured in the 1st/7th and 5th houses, can be accessed with more thought and stability, because it has moved slightly away from the Ascendant/Descendant axis. Jupiter has moved into the 7th house of partnerships, attracting more positive progress and support by others.
Transits for May 6, 2023 – Coronation Day (Fig. 4)
Because a starting time for the Coronation has not yet been announced I have used 11:30 am which will give us a fair indication of the planet positions on the day. The Coronation time of Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953 was listed as starting at 11:15 am.
An interesting choice of day considering the Appulse eclipse of the Moon late the previous day. However this full moon will have passed by May 6.
The sign of Taurus is dominant in royal horoscopes with the Taurus Moon in King Charles’ chart in close conjunct to the Sun position of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. The Sun on Coronation day is applying to Uranus in Taurus describing important changes. Jupiter the expansive, protective planet, is culminating in the middle of the day.
Transits to the Harry & Meghan’s Composite Charts
In view of recent controversy Coronation Day is a relevant day to compare the two Harry/Meaghan Composite charts for London and California.
Bi-Wheel for London Composite Chart with Coronation date (FIG. 5)
The overload of planets and points including the Taurus Sun and Uranus (power and change), are tucked away and contained in the subconscious composite the 12th house. The transiting Moon is conjunct and highlights Jupiter in the composite 6th house of service to others. Transiting Pluto is culminating in the composite 10th house of worldly honour conjunct the composite Midheaven and opposition the composite Moon on the IC, suggesting major change in this area accompanied by deep emotions.
Bi-Wheel for California USA Composite with Coronation date (FIG. 6)
The overload of planets and points remain in the composite 12th house with the exception of Uranus which is in the composite 1st house.
The Coronation Sun at 15deg. 38min Taurus is conjunct the composite Californian Ascendant 15deg. 50min Taurus (= esteem, advancement). However the Coronation Uranus in the 1st house of personality and environment of the couple can be either progressive or revolutionary and could also indicate a relocation from the Californian home at that time.
Positively composite Jupiter has moved into the 7th house of partners and the Coronation Moon transits composite Jupiter earlier in the day, indicating increased support from others.
Coronation Pluto is still conjunct the composite Midheaven opposition composite Moon, so emotions will still run high for this location, but the outcome will be different as a result of how others will perceive the couple.
Bi Wheel King Charles & Coronation Day (FIG. 7)
Finally we consider the chart of King Charles with transits for the Coronation day. During the middle of the day the overload of planets is in Charles’ 10th house of Worldly Honour, emphasizing the ‘Father figure’, with Jupiter culminating and the Sun conjunct Uranus, heralding the change of an honourable position.
One of the most outstanding points is the slow moving karmic Moon Node return which occurs every 18 and a half years. With his South Moon Nodes in his natal 4th house representing Charles’ ancestors and his 10th house representing fame and honour, a high level of favourable conditions exist on Charles' Coronation Day.
Interestingly the transiting Moon at 25 degrees Scorpio is conjunct his natal Chiron in his 5th house of children and transiting Chiron is conjunct his natal Midheaven. Chiron ‘the Wounded Healer’ is therefore highlighted, hopefully to help heal the wounds of Charles’ children, for it said that Chiron ‘wounds in order to heal’. As I said in my previous Harry and Meaghan article on this website the old adage ‘Whilst healing others we heal ourselves’ could apply on this memorable day.
