PLANETARY NODES & THE CORONA PANDEMIC 2020

Examining the 2020 Planetary Aspects as they relate to the Planetary Nodes

Since writing my COVID-19 article on May 2, 2020 (posted on this Website), I have had many expressions of interest regarding the involvement of the Planetary Nodes in this pandemic year. As a result I have uploaded my April 1999 article “Rediscovering the Planetary Nodes” onto this website and also wish to add some additional comments.

Because the Heliocentric Planetary Nodes only move approximately one degree per century their positions for the Saturn/Pluto conjunction on January 13, 2020 will have little movement during the year.

Saturn conjunct Pluto January 13, 2020

Transiting Saturn was conjunct the Saturn south node (23deg. 50min. Capricorn) on January 22, 2020.

Transiting Pluto was within 4mins from a conjunction to the Pluto south node (20deg. 34min. Capricorn) on October 3, 2019, which was immediately prior to the mysterious lung disease being announced in Wuhan China on November 17, 2019.

However transiting Pluto was conjunct the Saturn south nodes on February 15, 2020, it retrograded back to this point on July 11 and will move direct over the Saturn south nodes again on December 21, 2020.

I believe the Saturn/Pluto planetary conjunction in itself is not enough to herald a world pandemic, as this conjunction occurs about every 36-38 years. However the doubling up influence of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction plus the planetary nodes involvement, has increased its more negative potential this year.

In his book ‘The Combination of Stellar Influences’ Reinhold Ebertin describes the Saturn/Pluto energy as “self-denial, renunciation, spiritual lessons, tenacity, toughness, hard work and record efforts of the highest possible order”. It can be seen in the charts of “violent people, murderers and martyrs, deeply searching scientists and reactionaries but also intensely spiritual people”.

How true are Mr. Ebertin’s interpretations! During 2020 most of us have become masters of self-denial and discipline. We are depending on the deeply searching scientists to find a solution. The Corona Virus murderer is our enemy.

We have seen a small percentage of reactionaries unsettling the status quo -- those who are impatient for an end to the hardships of lockdown and isolation.

Jupiter conjunct Pluto in Capricorn

Some of us casually hoped that 2020’s Jupiter conjunct Pluto (the ‘make or lose a million’ aspect) would improve conditions this year, even if finances in general were prone to unpredictability under this aspect.

However all of the three 2020 Jupiter/Pluto conjunctions (April 5, June 30 and November 13) are within a degree of orb from the Saturn south node, so the positive expression seems to have been suppressed and the more ‘out of control’ expression of Jupiter/Pluto vented through the progress of the unpredictable Corona virus.

As 2021 has a very different astrological flavour to 2020 we have high hopes that a new direction is possible for us after the final conjunction on November 13, 2020. In 2021 extraordinary effort is indicated towards personal and financial healing. There is a distinct flavour of breaking new ground, which seems likely, considering the new ways of living we have experienced in 2020 such as working and studying at home. Because of the changeable character of the virus it is hard to predict a cure, but we can still hope that treatment to temper the spread will increase general positivity.

My previous interpretation for the northern planetary nodes was ‘intake’ and for the more challenging south node ‘release’.

In 2020 I would like to include some esoteric interpretations. For the north node ‘new solutions, adaptability and positive life directions’ and for the south node ‘karmic experience’.

How do we interpret our 2020 ‘karmic experience’? Some wonder why these restrictions and precautions should happen to them, but others know instinctively that the need to reassess and change our personal and work lives and review the wellbeing of the aged (south nodes Capricorn) is overdue.

Rather than dwell on the fact that we have somehow earned this extraordinary experience we should try to express ourselves positively through appreciation of home and family. Energy directed into strengthening loving and emotional bonds (north nodes Cancer) plus enjoying simpler lives seems to be our future.

Despite the tragic loss of life there are sadly those who still cannot ‘cut it’ and adjust to the restrictions required. They deal with their frustrations aggressively towards others and themselves. But the higher percentage of people are able to offer assistance to others through kindness and understanding.

We are not the first generation and will not be the last to suffer unexpected hardships. Foremost we should be thankful and express gratitude to those with the knowledge and expertise to help us safely through 2020. In this Age of Aquarius where everyone does their own thing, everyone is a star and everyone has freedom of expression, it has obviously been harder for some than others to adapt to these extraordinary challenges.
